Career Opportunities
Upon completing this program, you will be able to plan, organize, and oversee construction, development, or building infrastructure projects. As a site manager, you will lead one or more teams of technicians, laborers, or skilled workers.
This training prepares you for the role of site manager in building construction: constructing and renovating spaces for living, working, and leisure (homes, schools, offices, etc.); public works: creating infrastructure for community services (urban developments, railways, tramways, ports, airports, green spaces), and civil engineering projects such as bridges and dams.
Construction Site Manager: Overseeing Projects from Start to Finish
The construction site manager is like a conductor, tasked with transforming a project vision into a finished structure, whether it be a new building, landscape, or any large-scale construction or public works project.
Required Knowledge
As a technician, the site manager has a solid foundation in technical work management. However, their role on-site covers much more, requiring diverse cross-functional knowledge: safety regulations, budget management, administrative and technical procedures for project launch, and HR skills for team leadership. → This role inherently demands a broad range of knowledge. Moreover, due to the variety of projects they may supervise, a site manager must continuously expand their expertise.
Skills of a Construction Site Manager
A construction site manager draws upon a wide array of skills:
- Organizational skills, as they manage the entire project planning process;
- Interpersonal skills, as they liaise with investors, project managers, owners, suppliers, and on-site teams. While they are public works technicians by training, site managers must also be excellent communicators.
The Role of Site Manager in Practice: A Variety of Responsibilities
Depending on their company’s structure, project scope, and type of site, a site manager’s role may vary widely in practice. The constant across all settings remains the coordination of team members and a strong sense of responsibility.
