Internationalisation and our students
Responding to the challenges of globalisation in the construction sector
French expertise and excellence in the construction, regional and urban planning sectors are highly prized internationally. In this respect, equipping students with the skills to operate in an international arena gives them a major competitive edge.
At ESTP, a number of facilities are available to enhance language proficiency, notably in English, and to promote international mobility. These include a mandatory period abroad of at least one semester as part of the diplôme d’ingénieur Master’s level engineering course requirement.
International Mobility objectives
Please note:
Students enrolling at ESTP should be aware of our international mobility objectives: a good standard of proficiency in English as a graduation requirement (a minimum of 805 points in the TOEIC test) and 13-weeks of mandatory international mobility, for students graduating in 2019 and 2020. Students who began their studies in September 2018, graduating in 2021, will have to complete an academic semester or a FYP (Final Year Project) outside France.
This mobility can be achieved via:
- A study abroad semester in First, Second or Third Year or a full academic year abroad in Third Year (for a Double Degree) within the framework of a partnership agreement (ESTP Paris university partners)
- A Third Year internship (FYP) abroad with a French or foreign company, or in a university partner laboratory
- An internship at the end of First or Second Year or before the FYP in Third Year (preferably in a major studied at ESTP, or in any another sector), in a French or foreign company abroad (This is valid for year groups graduating in 2019 and 2020 ensuring a 13 week mobility)
- Paid employment on a fixed-term contract (preferably in a major studied at ESTP, or in any another sector), in a French or foreign company abroad
- Humanitarian work within a recognised organisation – with support from the HILAP society – (for year groups graduating in 2019 and 2020 ensuring a 13 week mobility)
- A language course abroad approved in advanced by the Academic Affairs Office to allow students who are less proficient in English to achieve the required level (for year groups graduating in 2019 and 2020 ensuring a 13 week mobility)
- It is a mandatory requirement for all engineering students to achieve a minimum level of English proficiency in order to graduate: TOEFL 570 points, TOEIC 805 points, or the Cambridge EXAMS certificate with an equivalent score.
- International students from a non-French-speaking country, or studying on a course which is not taught in French, must achieve at least a B2 level in the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages in an official French as a second language test: TFE 620 points - TCF 450 points - DELF level B2 - TFI 710 points - DALF
