ESTP Honored at the AGIRES Awards: Training Tomorrow's Engineers with the SoftSkills Portfolio

At ESTP, project-based learning is central to the pedagogy, promoting action-oriented and collaborative learning. Among these innovative projects, the SoftSkills Portfolio stands out with its unique approach focused on the personal and professional development of engineering students. Designed to support students throughout their studies, this project reveals and enhances the transversal skills essential in the professional world.

A Project Serving Personal and Professional Growth

The goal of the SoftSkills Portfolio is clear: to help students better understand themselves, identify their strengths, and improve their personal branding. This portfolio guides them through an introspective and proactive process, allowing them to structure and highlight their skills.

In their first year, students are invited to create an engaging and original deliverable: a camera-facing video titled "Introducing Myself to a Potential Employer." This video, which aligns with the growing trend of video resumes, provides them with the opportunity to practice this increasingly popular exercise among recruiters. They learn to present their background, articulate their skills around concrete achievements, and refine their professional posture.

Close Collaboration with Partner Companies

The creation of this video is accompanied by a dedicated workshop, where students receive support and advice from coaches from ESTP's partner companies. These professionals bring their expertise to help students structure a compelling pitch, select relevant biographical elements, and meet recruiter expectations. This direct interaction between students and the business world fosters a rich and constructive exchange, perfectly illustrating the connection between academia and the professional environment at ESTP.

The coaches, responsible for groups of about ten students, play a crucial role in this process. Their mission goes beyond mere supervision; they guide students in crafting a powerful narrative that aligns with job market demands. They also share their experience, providing students with a clear understanding of professions, recruitment processes, and industry expectations.

Well-Deserved Recognition for an Excellent Project

The collaborative effort and investment of the teaching teams, as well as the partner companies, were rewarded on June 27th at the AGIRES SYNERGIE Awards. ESTP received 2nd place in the "Coup de Cœur" category for the SoftSkills Portfolio session held in March. This event brought together 40 coaches from 16 partner companies, reflecting the collective commitment to this project.

This recognition is the result of hard work and collaboration among various departments and services at ESTP: teaching, pedagogical innovation, corporate relations, and student life. It confirms the importance of company involvement in engineering education and highlights the relevance of projects like the SoftSkills Portfolio in preparing future professionals for market challenges.

Through this innovative pedagogical approach, ESTP continues to train versatile engineers capable of standing out with their technical and interpersonal skills, aligned with the expectations of today’s and tomorrow’s professional world.
